As part of the offtake and regulatory team, Jefferson advises clients on climate finance, focusing on the development of new environmental products to drive financing towards climate change. His experience includes advisory and regulatory matters relating to environmental finance and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Acting for major players in the carbon market, Jefferson has helped with the development of financing mechanisms for market transactions. Transactions include advising a commodities trader on a prepayment transaction for cookstove VCUs involving an Indian project developer, advising an intermediary on a sale of CORSIA-eligible emissions units to an airline on ISDA terms and advising on legal and commercial issues associated with shipowners', bareboat charterers' and ship managers' liabilities under the EU ETS as extended to shipping (under finance and operating leases, time charters and ship management agreements) and pooling arrangements under ReFuelEU Maritime.
