The construction of Dansk Data Center 1 (DDC1), a new energy-integrated data centre, has started at the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark.
DDC1 will be one of Denmark’s largest data centres and is owned by PensionDanmark, the Thylander Group and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) through its CI Microgrid Electrification Fund. The data centre is being developed by CIP, Plexar and Thylander, with PensionDanmark as lead investor.
The multi-tenant data centre will have a capacity of 11.5 MW and is designed with a focus on energy efficiency, security of supply and integration with the local energy system. The project includes intelligent energy management and energy storage, and the parties aim to utilise excess heat from the data centre for district heating in collaboration with DIN Forsyning.
Construction began in August 2026, with commissioning scheduled for October 2027.
Accura advised DDC1 from start to FID on all aspects of the project, including the investment, the financing and the full range of project agreements such as the procurement and construction contracts, the energy management agreement and the master service agreements for the project.
