A.P. Møller Holding A/S (“A.P. Møller Holding”) has signed an agreement to acquire Faerch A/S (“Faerch”) from the international private equity fund Advent International. The transaction values Faerch at EUR 1.9bn.
Faerch is the world’s leading sustainable food packaging company. The company is a market leader of circular packaging solutions in which up to 100% of the used packaging is being recycled as part of a closed-loop cycle (no waste).
Faerch is also the only industrial business in the world, offering its customers to recycle used packaging back into new, similar packaging.
As a result of the ownership of Faerch, A.P. Møller Holding wants to contribute to the critical societal development of a sustainable circular system of waste. Therefore, the intention is to increase investments in several recycling facilities to strengthen Faerch’s leadership position and meet high customer demand.
The transaction is subject to the approval by the Danish competition authorities and the completion of Faerch’s acquisition of the food packaging business Sirap Gema S.p.a.
