Accura consolidates its position

Accura’s positive development continued in 2023. With a reasonable level of activity in transactions compared to the market and a steadily growing Renewable Energy Team, Accura realised a revenue of DKK 1bn in 2023.

Focused strategy continues to support growth journey
In spite of continuing geopolitical tension and economic turbulence in 2023, Accura has continued to deliver on its focused strategy to be the preferred advisor on large transactions and complex projects.

In 2023, Accura realised a revenue of DKK 1,001m compared to DKK 863.8m in 2022. “We’re definitely satisfied with our performance in 2023. As everyone knows, the market has been challenged and unpredictable due to the geopolitical and economic turbulence, so, in that context, 16% growth is indeed very satisfactory,” says Ivan Madsen, partner and CEO of Accura.

In 2023, Accura consolidated its position as Denmark’s leading transaction law firm. With more than 135 M&A and ECM transactions, the international rating agency Mergermarket announced Accura as the law firm in Denmark that had advised on the most transactions. Over the past three years, Accura has advised Danish and international clients on more than 385 major M&A and ECM transactions. In addition to the many transactions, Accura’s various expert teams advised clients on a wide range of complex projects within their respective practice areas, also in 2023.

Considerable progress in renewable energy
Accura’s Renewable Energy Team was established on 1 January 2022 with a team of 30 leading experts in this field. Since then, development has moved remarkably fast. By the end of 2023, the team consisted of more than 110 experts representing 20 different nationalities. They advise Danish and international clients on renewable energy projects from our offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Boston, London, Singapore, Tokyo, Melbourne og Seoul.

“We’re proud that, thanks to our renewable energy business area, we’re able to contribute to the establishment of long-term, sustainable solutions in the energy sector. At the same time, it’s quite amazing that a Danish law firm is able to attract so many qualified employees globally and advise on large projects in most parts of the world,” says Thomas Weincke, partner and chairman of Accura’s board of directors.

550+ employees
The continued growth also means that Accura heavily recruited employees again in 2023. Accura increased its headcount from approx. 480 in 2022 to approx. 560 employees by the end of 2023.

“Our employees are the foundation for us to continue to deliver on our focused strategy, ensure the development of Accura and maintain and improve our market position. That’s why we constantly focus on rethinking how to attract, develop and retain skilled and talented Danish and international employees. That’ll always be a focus area for us,” says Ivan Madsen and continues “An essential part of our journey is an ever-increasing and high-priority focus on diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion”.

New and future-proof office building
In 2023, Accura moved into a newly built and innovative office building in Nordhavn. The building has been awarded the DGNB Gold sustainability certificate and was built with a focus on solutions that limit Accura’s climate and environmental impact and use of resources. “We’ve now lived in our new offices in Nordhavn for a year and have settled in well. Our expectations and ambitions for the office building were that it should match our strategy, DNA and ambitions in both expression and location – and those expectations have certainly been met,” says Thomas Weincke.

Continued focus on delivering on current strategy
The market still seems to be characterised by some uncertainty. In 2024, Accura will continue to deliver on the current strategy and expects to maintain a positive development and improve its position as market leader in advising on major transactions and complex projects.

At the same time, Accura will continue to work to maintain and further develop the firm’s culture so that both employees and clients continue to experience the special Accura DNA.
