L’Oréal has acquired Danish Lactobio and its subsidiary BAK Skincare, who develops skin care products.
Lactobio is a leader in probiotics and microbiome research based in Copenhagen. Lactobio was founded in 2017 by Søren Kjærulff and Charlotte Vedel, who developed a unique screening platform for identifying and isolating thousands of probiotic bacteria strains with capabilities that could help solve various bodily concerns.
So far, research has resulted in the BAK Skincare brand, which develops skin care products to relieve various skin concerns without using chemicals and antibiotics.
The acquisition of Lactobio will help strengthen and accelerate L’Oréal’s microbiome research dedicated to beauty.
