Ekstra Bladet has acquired a majority stake of 60% in Swush.dk, which is a developer and operator of manager games, including Holdet.dk, from Danske Licens Spil, which is owned by Danske Spil.
Holdet.dk is Denmark’s leading provider of manager games in which thousands of Danes month after month create their fictitious teams consisting of professional athletes in football, motorsports, golf, cycling, etc. to compete with each other. Holdet.dk was launched in 2009, and, today, it has close to 200,000 users.
Holdet.dk will continue to operate as an independent brand and business and will be further developed in collaboration with the two founders who will continue as co-owners.
Ekstra Bladet is part of JP/Politiken Media Group and is one of Denmark’s leading news media with close to one million daily users.
The acquisition of Holdet.dk is another crucial milestone in Ekstra Bladet’s ambition to be a digital leader in sports and has been completed barely nine months after Ekstra Bladet took over Denmark’s largest football news provider bold.dk.
