BioCirc acquires German engineering business

The bioeconomic group BioCirc has acquired the German engineering business North-Tec.

North-Tec provides design and calculations for biogas plants and can, as a turnkey contractor, manage construction and sub-suppliers. In addition, the company has advanced software solutions to automate and streamline energy production at biogas plants.

North-Tec has technologies that may ensure a flexible and intelligent combination of various green energy forms, such as electricity, gas, hydrogen and methanol, to be delivered to the energy market from BioCirc’s future land-based energy clusters at five locations around Denmark.

The acquisition of North-Tec is also an important part of BioCirc’s international growth ambitions, including in the USA, where the competences to develop and establish biogas plants are not available.

BioCirc was formed in 2021 with the clear objective of producing green energy in the form of electricity, gas, fuel and heat and establishing energy clusters to facilitate the green transition at the local level. The long-term ambition is to become the world’s leading biogas producer.

BioCirc now owns eight biogas plants in Denmark with a total production capacity of approx. 170m cubic metres of biogas, equal to 120,000 Danish households’ yearly consumption.
