DCC Energi invests in large Danish biogas plant

The energy company DCC Energi has acquired a 50% stake in Frijsenborg Biogas which is one of Denmark’s largest farm biogas plants.

Frijsenborg Biogas produces more than 15 million nm3 biogas per year which is delivered to the Danish natural gas network. The production covers the annual consumption of approx. 6,000 homes. The biogas is produced from the waste from chicken farms and other kinds of biomaterial from the agricultural and food industries. The plant is located west of Aarhus, Denmark.

DCC Energi is one of Denmark’s largest energy companies. With the investment in Frijsenborg Biogas, DCC Energi extends its position on the Danish natural gas market, and, for the first time, the energy company will become co-owner of Danish production infrastructure.

The transaction is subject to final approval from the authorities.
