Danelec strengthens its market position with strategic acquisition

Danish Danelec, which is majority-owned by the private equity fund Verdane, strengthens its position within maritime safety and green transition with the acquisition of MacGregor’s business within Voyage Data Recorders (VDR), including its Maritime Data Engine (MDE) software.

Voyage Data Recorders function like “black boxes” known from aircrafts. They are installed on ships to collect vital data to improve safety. Moreover, they are used to optimise the operation of ships in order to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Danelec was formed in 1995 and develops technologies to improve safety, optimise the operation of ships and reduce costs and greenhouse emissions. Danelec has approx. 130 employees across 11 offices.

With the acquisition, Danelec consolidates its globally leading position within Voyage Data Recorders in the maritime industry and enhances its installed base to a total of 16,000 units.
