BioCirc acquires Naturbiogas Sode

The bioeconomic group BioCirc Group (“BioCirc”) is expanding its portfolio of biogas plants through the acquisition of Naturbiogas Sode. Naturbiogas Sode is located close to Haderslev in South Jutland and is one of Denmark’s largest plants, producing 19 million cubic metres of biogas from plant waste and manure every year.

BioCirc was formed in 2021 with the clear objective of producing green energy in the form of electricity, gas, fuel and heat and establishing energy clusters to facilitate the green transition at the local level. The long-term ambition is to become the world’s leading biogas producer. Today, BioCirc has more than 120 employees across six Danish biogas plants and two offices located in Middelfart in Funen and in Copenhagen. The company produces 140 million cubic metres of biogas every year, which equals the annual energy consumption of 90,000 Danish households.

The transaction is subject to approval of the merger by the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority.
