The Danish bank Basisbank has sold its consumer finance portfolio to Ikano Bank for a total price of approx. DKK 2bn.
Ikano Bank takes over loans to more than 75,000 private bank customers with a total loan commitment of approx. DKK 2bn.
Basisbank was founded in 2000 and was the first online bank in Denmark.
Ikano Bank is headquartered in Malmö and is a part of the Ikano Group which is owned by the Kamprad family, the founders of IKEA. The bank conducts business in Scandinavia, England, Germany and Poland.
The transaction is subject to approval from the authorities.
