The listed Finnish group Fiskars Group (“Fiskars”) has acquired the Danish design company Georg Jensen for EUR 151.5m from the private equity fund Investcorp.
Georg Jensen is an iconic Danish design brand, founded in 1904. The business is globally recognised for its pioneering craftmanship and timeless designs within jewellery, watches, silver holloware and home products, etc. Today, Georg Jensen has 28 own stores and 73 shop-in-shops across more than 10 countries and has approx. 1,200 employees worldwide.
Fiskars was founded in 1649 and is Finland’s oldest company. Fiskars is known to produce cookware and gardening tools and also has a range of design brands in its portfolio, including the Danish porcelain company Royal Copenhagen. Globally, the company has close to 7,000 employees.
The purpose of the acquisition of Georg Jensen is to strengthen Fiskars’s portfolio of luxury brands and to support Fiskars’s global growth strategy.
