Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners acquires Ørsted’s European onshore business

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) has acquired Ørsted’s entire European onshore business, comprising more than 800 MW, through its fifth flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V). The total value of the transaction is EUR 1.44bn.

The transaction comprises Ørsted’s entire portfolio of onshore assets in Europe, including 587 MW wind farms in operation, 248 MW under construction and a development pipeline. The assets are located in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain and span onshore wind, solar energy and battery storage projects

The acquisition strengthens CIP’s European portfolio and supports its position as a leading investor in energy infrastructure and onshore renewables. Following closing, the onshore business will operate as a stand-alone business with a new company name and brand.

CIP is a global fund manager specialising in energy infrastructure investments, with a particular focus on greenfield renewable energy projects. Founded in 2012, CIP manages 13 funds, has raised approximately EUR 35bn from international institutional investors and has projects across more than 30 countries.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
