EQT Infrastructure acquires Molslinjen

EQT Infrastructure (“EQT”) has acquired the largest Danish domestic ferry company Molslinjen. The sellers are several shareholders led by the private equity fund Polaris.

Molslinjen owns 15 ferries sailing on nine routes in Denmark, including connections to Sweden and Germany. Molslinjen has expanded its business significantly over the past 5 years during which the company has taken over several ferry routes, invested in new ferries and launched bus routes between several parts of the country.

Molslinjen has more than 700 employees and an annual revenue of DKK 1.9bn.

EQT is the largest private equity fund in the Nordic countries and the acquisition of Molslinjen has been made through EQT Infrastructure V which is EQT’s most recent fund with a focus on infrastructure investments.

As the owner of Molslinjen, EQT will, for example, strengthen the company’s sustainability agenda by reducing the use of fossil fuels in its fleet. EQT also focuses on creating more and better opportunities for its customers when they choose Molslinjen.

The transaction is subject to the approval of the Danish competition authorities.
