Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) has concluded an agreement to buy Struer Energi’s and Vestforsyning’s majority ownership interest in Maabjerg Energy Center’s biogas plant. The plant is located near Holstebro, Denmark, and converts 500,000 tons of slurry into biogas, which is used for electricity and heat production.
With this investment CIP wants to create and develop a center for sustainable bioenergy in the municipalities of Holstebro Kommune and Struer Kommune. With a solid local anchoring, CIP has plans to increase the production of sustainable biomass by up to 60% and will develop new business areas for the plant, e.g. by establishing a new bio-ethanol plant.
Accura advised CIP in connection with the negotiation and conclusion of the purchase agreement and will continue to assist CIP in connection with the agreement on the planned expansion of the biogas plant.
